Rule
Change ある / いる to negative.
ある
↓
ない → ないです → ありません
いる
↓
いない →いないです → いません
Where to use
Use it at the end of the sentence.
Examples
Casual (friends / talking to yourself)
りんごがある
There is an apple.
↓
りんごがない
There is no apple.
Polite (normal conversation)
りんごがあります
There is an apple.
↓
りんごがないです
There is no apple.
Formal (business / official situations)
りんごがあります
There is an apple.
↓
りんごがありません
There is no apple.

All these mean: “There is no ~”.
The only difference is politeness.
ない → casual
