動詞の否定（〜ない）
1. What is 「〜ない」?
「〜ない」 is the casual negative form of a verb.
It means “do not / does not”.
2. Basic Rule
For U-verbs:
change the final sound to the A- row + ない
Important Exception
「う」 changes to 「わ」 before 「ない」
❌ う → あない
⭕ う → わない
3. Examples
かく → かかない
write → do not write
のむ → のまない
drink → do not drink
とる → とらない
take → do not take
はなす → はなさない
speak → do not speak
あう → あわない
meet → do not meet
4. How U-verbs Changes
かく（KA-row）
く → か
か き く け こ
ka / ki / ku / ke / ko
Change 「く」 to the A-row sound → 「か」

む → ま
ま み む め も
ma / mi / mu / me / mo
Change 「む」 to the A-row sound → 「ま」

る → ら

Change 「る」 to the A-row sound → 「ら」
5. RU-verbs
RU-verbs are easier.
Remove 「る」 + ない
たべる → たべない
eat → do not eat
みる → みない
see → do not see
6. Irregular Verbs
する → しない
do → do not do
くる → こない
come → do not come

Do NOT memorize every form separately.
