Negative Past Form
〜ませんでした（否定過去形）
1. What is ませんでした
Used to talk about actions that did NOT happen in the past.
2. Polite Negative Past Form
Verb negative → Negative past form
ません → ませんでした
たべません → たべませんでした
do not eat → did not eat
いきません → いきませんでした
do not go → did not go
しません → しませんでした
do not do → did not do
3. Examples
きのう、ラーメンを たべませんでした。
I did not eat ramen yesterday.
にほんへ いきませんでした。
I did not go to Japan.
ともだちと はなしませんでした。
I did not talk with my friend.
